Andrea Nemtin
Partner/Executive Producer
Andrea began her career as a consultant and campaign manager for non-profit organizations, planning and executing their media and public relation campaigns.
In 1994 Andrea began working as a producer of documentaries, first in Vancouver and then in Toronto and Montreal. After working as a freelancer for two years Andrea became the President and CEO of Toronto's PTV Productions Inc., in 1997.
Under her guidance, PTV Productions has produced over 60 hours of television. Andrea has produced and executive-produced one-offs, limited series and series. She has worked closely with a wide range of broadcasters, including Life Network, History Television, Discovery Health Canada, CBC, Discovery Canada, WTN, TVO, Discovery Health USA, PBS and BBC. Andrea has also worked on international co-productions, on several occasions, within Europe.
Andrea’s recent successes include the multi award winning feature documentary Passage, and a biography on the Aga Khan. She also recently executive produced the North American series of the BBC format Star Portraits, a series for History Television called Saving Places and new series Inside Disaster for TVO and ITV.
Andrea is a member of the CFTPA, WIFT and the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television, she’s previously been on the board of Hot Docs, Abilities Arts Festival and the Documentary Organization of Canada. She was a guest speaker at SIFT in 2006/7/8, and has been a jurist for both Hot Docs and the Gemini Awards.
Ian Dunbar
Partner/Executive Producer
As co-owner of PTV Productions, Ian is responsible for maintaining
the high standard of design implementation for all PTV productions.
In addition to editing and visual effects, Ian is an experienced
online supervisor and has directed two series for television: The
children’s animated series Grandpa's Garden and the documentary
series Letters to God.
Katie Jeffs
Development and Communications Manager
Katie Jeffs has 10 years international experience in broadcasting, production and development. Since joining PTV Productions in 2008 Katie has been developing/selling new programming and managing communication. At PTV she has worked on Bravo! Canada series Star Portraits, documentary feature Passage, History Television series Saving Places and most recently Inside Disaster for TVO and ITV. Katie has also produced several industry events including the Abilities Arts Festival in 2009, History Makers 2008 and Banff World Television Festival 2008. Her move to Canada in 2005 took her to Alliance Atlantis where she joined the Content Department, working closely with the then EVP of Content, Norm Bolen. Prior to joining Alliance Atlantis, Katie spent over 6 years at the BBC in London, UK, occupying various production, development and commissioning roles within the Drama, Entertainment and Comedy departments. Before joining the BBC, Katie trained as a professional dancer at Elmhurst Ballet School.
Nancy Winsor
Business and Legal Affairs
Nancy Winsor has worked as a producer, writer, director, animator, researcher and publicist. After graduating from film school and producing a successful half-hour film, she joined SimEx-Iwerks Entertainment, a special-venue film company in Toronto. At SimEx-Iwerks Nancy worked in a variety of roles, including Producer/Director, Director of Film Distribution and Marketing & Post-Production Manager. Beginning with a library of just 3 films and a handful of client theatres, Nancy was at the centre of the growth of SimEx-Iwerks’ film department, one that evolved along with ever-changing technologies, a rapidly expanding film library and a worldwide network of theatres. As Head of Business & Legal Affairs at PTV, Nancy manages contracts, financing and distribution.
Katie McKenna
Internet Director
PTV Internet Director Katie McKenna is a social media expert and web consultant for organizations including the New Democratic Party of Canada, the Documentary Organization of Canada, and the online startup JumpTV.com. She is a member of the Canadian Web of Change community.
In addition to her work in new media, Katie is an experienced documentary director and producer, working with companies like Galafilm, PTV Productions, Paul Jay Films, Klein Lewis Productions, and the National Film Board. In 2008, she became Communications Director for DOCspace, the innovative social networking site for Canadian documentary filmmakers.
Katie recently completed her MSc in Global Politics from the London School of Economics. Her thesis explored how new technologies are allowing global organizations to adopt decision-making processes that are both more efficient and accountable to stakeholders.
Yshia Wallace
Web and Graphic Designer
Yshia Wallace is an established designer, programmer and visual artist who specializes in creating elegant and accessible websites from the bottom up. Her past work includes creating and overseeing the PTV Productions website, her own online portfolio, and creating and managing the websites for television shows such as the Bravo! series Star Portraits and Vision TV’s Letters to God.
Yshia is an experienced compositor, animator and multimedia artist who enjoys working on multiple platforms. She has a BA in English Literature from McGill University and is completing a degree in Fine Art from the Ontario College of Art and Design.
Erin LaRocque
Assistant/Administrator
Erin LaRocque joined PTV Productions as an intern in 2008 and is now the team assistant and administrator. In 2008, Erin graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a degree in Media, Information and Technoculture. Her studies at Western included media theory, documentary media, and journalism. Prior to joining PTV, Erin was the Communications Intern at Pillar Nonprofit Network, an umbrella network for nonprofit organizations in London, Ontario.
